As part of the celebrations commemorating the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, 20 JKAP IR organised a “Police-Public Samvad” at Parihaspora to sensitise the public, particularly youth, about the administrative vision and reforms associated with the “Iron Man of India.”

During the interaction, the participants were apprised of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s significant contribution towards building a strong and unified administrative framework in independent India. Emphasis was laid on his vision of integrity, discipline, impartiality, accountability and dedicated public service.

The participants were also briefed about Patel’s important role in strengthening the All India Services, including the IAS and IPS, which were envisaged as professional, impartial and nationally oriented institutions. His emphasis on political neutrality, discipline and responsibility among civil servants was highlighted as an important foundation of effective governance.

The discussion also covered Sardar Patel’s contribution towards the integration of princely states and the establishment of administrative unity across the country. His emphasis on a strong administrative system capable of maintaining national unity, public order and effective governance was also discussed.

Addressing the gathering, Commandant 20 JKAP IR, Shri Surjeet Kumar, JKPS, said that Sardar Patel’s administrative legacy continues to inspire public servants to work with honesty, discipline, professionalism and a strong sense of responsibility towards citizens and the nation.

He called upon the youth to understand the values of unity, discipline and responsible citizenship and to contribute positively towards society. He further emphasised that effective administration is strengthened when the police and public work together with mutual trust, cooperation and respect.

The Police-Public Samvad provided an interactive platform for participants to share their views and understand the importance of citizen participation in strengthening public administration and community relations. (JKNS)
