Uri Baramulla, Oct 16(JKNS): Bajrang Battalion, under the aegis of Kalapahar Brigade, organised a three-day Artificial Limb Camp at Kalapahar Brigade, Uri, from October 14 to 16, 2026, in collaboration with the Pritam Spiritual Foundation (Poonch) and Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti (Jaipur Foot).

The camp was inaugurated by the Commander, Kalapahar Brigade, in the presence of members of civil society from Uri. The initiative aimed to restore confidence, improve mobility and enhance the quality of life of persons with disabilities from remote border villages of Uri and Boniyar tehsils, enabling them to lead more independent and dignified lives.

A dedicated team comprising three specialist doctors, 11 prosthetic technicians and support staff from the Pritam Spiritual Foundation and Jaipur Foot conducted the camp. A total of 243 beneficiaries were screened, measured and provided with artificial limbs, calipers and other assistive aids free of cost. The team also imparted gait training and post-fitting counselling to help beneficiaries use the prosthetic devices effectively.

In addition, 43 beneficiaries were provided with wheelchairs to support their mobility, while 76 individuals underwent hearing assessments and received hearing aids free of cost through the Pritam Spiritual Foundation.

The camp witnessed the participation of civil administration officials and local representatives, including the SDPO, Naib Tehsildar, SHO, Sarpanches and Numberdars from the respective villages, who extended assistance to the beneficiaries throughout the initiative.

Local residents expressed appreciation for the humanitarian effort, highlighting its importance in addressing the needs of persons with disabilities, particularly those residing in remote border areas.

Through such welfare initiatives, the Indian Army continues to demonstrate its commitment to the principles of Seva, inclusivity and nation-building. The initiative also reinforces the strong Awam-Jawan bond and reflects the Army’s continued efforts to support local communities and improve the lives of people living in border areas.(JKNS)
