Budgam, October 19: In line with the vision of the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE) 2023 to make examinations supportive, student-friendly and stress-free, a special programme was organised at Examination Centre No. 121038, Government Middle School Hardapanzoo, ahead of the commencement of examinations. The initiative aimed to reduce fear and anxiety among students while fostering self-confidence, positive thinking and motivation.

During the programme, students were given a warm welcome, and several engaging and motivational activities were organised to create a pleasant atmosphere at the examination centre. These activities included a ribbon-cutting ceremony, distribution of toffees among students, a counselling session and a special energiser activity. Through these initiatives, students were encouraged to view examinations not as a source of fear or anxiety, but as an opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge, hard work and abilities.

The special programme was organised by Examination Superintendent Jamshed Ahmad Bande and Resource Person Riyaz Ahmad Rather under the guidance of Zonal Education Officer, Zone Hardapanzoo, Ghulam Rasool Nasir. On the occasion, Complex Head and Principal of Higher Secondary School Watrhail, Hasrat Hafiz, also participated and encouraged the students, highlighting the importance of positive thinking and self-confidence during examinations.

Addressing the gathering, the educationist said that examinations are an important part of a student’s academic journey; however, they should not become a source of mental stress, fear or anxiety. He advised students to consider examinations an opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and abilities and to participate in the examination process with proper preparation, confidence and a calm mind.

He further emphasised that success is not limited to securing high marks. The willingness to learn, consistent hard work, discipline and the ability to learn from mistakes are equally important aspects of success. He urged teachers to pay special attention to the mental and emotional well-being of students alongside their academic education so that every child can develop their abilities in a supportive and conducive learning environment.

The programme also highlighted the key principles of the National Curriculum Framework for School Education 2023, which emphasises making the teaching, learning and assessment processes more student-friendly, supportive and meaningful. It was pointed out that examinations should not merely assess students’ performance but should also help educators understand their academic progress, identify learning gaps and provide opportunities for further improvement.

The role of teachers, educational administrators and examination centre staff was also highlighted during the programme. Speakers stressed that adopting a positive approach towards students, encouraging them and allowing them to express their concerns can help create a calmer and more supportive examination environment. Parents and teachers were also encouraged to guide children and appreciate their efforts rather than placing unnecessary pressure on them through excessive expectations and an overemphasis on marks.

Students displayed enthusiasm throughout the programme, while the various activities helped create a welcoming and friendly atmosphere at the examination centre. The initiative conveyed the message that every student has the potential to learn, grow and succeed, and that appropriate guidance, consistent effort and self-confidence can help them perform better academically.

The programme at Government Middle School Hardapanzoo stands as a positive example of a student-centred educational approach that recognises the importance of students’ mental, emotional and psychological well-being alongside academic achievement. Such initiatives can help strengthen students’ confidence and contribute to building a healthier, more supportive and encouraging educational environment.
