Srinagar, Oct 21 (JKNS): Jammu and Kashmir Police will identify and track down those supporting terrorism and ensure that they face the full force of law, Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat warned on Wednesday, asserting that the “days of terror supporters are numbered.”

Addressing a gathering on Police Commemoration Day 2026, as per news agency JKNS, DGP Prabhat reiterated the police force’s resolve to completely uproot terrorism and dismantle its support network across Jammu and Kashmir, stating that action against all elements associated with terrorism would continue.

“Our objective is clear: to identify and completely uproot terrorism and every element associated with terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir,” the DGP said.

Issuing a stern warning to those supporting terrorism, Prabhat said that no one involved in such activities would be allowed to evade the law by hiding in remote or inaccessible locations.

“Even if you attempt to hide in the deepest corners of the earth, we will find you and ensure that you are punished under the law,” he said.

The DGP emphasised that the fight against terrorism would continue with a clear focus on identifying those involved in supporting terrorist activities and ensuring accountability under the law.

Calls for Unity, Communal Harmony

Highlighting the importance of maintaining peace and stability, Prabhat called upon people to uphold unity, mutual trust and communal harmony, stating that social cohesion was essential for the continued progress of Jammu and Kashmir.

“Unity in diversity is the identity of India and social harmony is an important foundation for the progress of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.

He urged people to remain vigilant against forces attempting to disturb peace and stability and called for public cooperation with the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Army and other security forces in maintaining a peaceful environment across the region.

Drug-Free J&K a Priority

The DGP also stressed the need to intensify action against drug trafficking and the illegal narcotics trade, describing the fight against drugs as a broader social responsibility beyond conventional law enforcement.

“This is not merely a question of law and order. It is about protecting the future of our youth, the well-being of families and the moral strength of our society,” he said.

He underlined the importance of protecting young people from drug abuse and called for sustained efforts to curb narcotics-related activities across Jammu and Kashmir.

Stresses Protection of Women, Children

Prabhat also highlighted the need to prevent crimes against women and children and ensure the protection of vulnerable sections of society.

He stressed the importance of strengthening mechanisms to monitor and prevent such offences, while ensuring timely justice for victims.

The DGP said safeguarding vulnerable people and ensuring their safety remained an important responsibility of the police and the wider administration.

Pays Tribute to Police Martyrs

Paying homage to police personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty, Prabhat said their supreme sacrifices would continue to inspire the force in its mission to safeguard the people and maintain peace.

He said the best tribute to the martyrs would be to work towards building a safe, peaceful, harmonious and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir.

The DGP also emphasised the need to ensure the welfare of martyrs’ families and provide them with continued support, acknowledging the sacrifices made by their loved ones in the service of the nation.

Prabhat commended the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Army and Central Armed Police Forces for their courage, dedication and commitment to duty, while wishing all personnel success and safety in their operations.

He reiterated that the police would continue working to eliminate terrorism, strengthen public safety, curb drug-related activities and preserve communal harmony across Jammu and Kashmir. (JKNS)
