Srinagar, Oct 23 (JKNS): Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday invited locals and tourists from across the country to visit Srinagar’s Chrysanthemum Garden, popularly known as Bagh-e-Gul-e-Dawood, and enjoy its floral beauty while creating lasting memories.
Inaugurating the garden for the second consecutive year, as per news agency JKNS, CM Omar urged people from Srinagar and surrounding areas, along with tourists visiting Kashmir, to explore the attraction, take photographs and experience its beauty.
“I invite not only tourists from across the country but, more importantly, our own people from Srinagar and surrounding areas to come, enjoy the beauty of this garden, take photographs and carry home beautiful memories,” the Chief Minister said, as per news agency JKNS.
He said the Department of Floriculture had developed the garden last year to create a unique floral attraction during autumn and strengthen tourism towards the end of Kashmir’s tourist season.
The Chief Minister said that while the Tulip Garden attracts visitors at the beginning of the tourism season, Kashmir previously lacked a major floral attraction towards its end.
“This garden has been developed to fill that gap,” he said, adding that the government aims to offer distinctive floral attractions at both the beginning and towards the end of the tourism season.
Expressing satisfaction over the garden’s development, Omar said significant improvements had been made compared to last year and assured that efforts would continue to enhance the attraction in the coming years.
Highlighting another feature of Bagh-e-Gul-e-Dawood, he said that unlike the Tulip Garden, which relies on bulbs imported from foreign countries, the Chrysanthemum Garden uses locally available plant material that is propagated and multiplied locally.
“Our effort will be to introduce something new in the garden every year,” he added. (JKNS)
