Pulwama, October 28: District Pulwama marked a historic milestone in school education by celebrating Digital HPC Achievement Day – Pulwama 2026 after completing the assessment of students at the Foundational Stage across the district.
With more than 28,000 Digital Holistic Progress Cards (HPCs) assessed and generated, Pulwama has emerged as the first district in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir to achieve this landmark in Foundational-stage assessment, reflecting its commitment to the transformative vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The celebration was held in an atmosphere of pride and collective accomplishment in the presence of Mr. Naseer Ahmad Wani (JKAS), Director School Education Kashmir; Syed Shabir Ahmad, Joint Director (Central) School Education Department and Joint Director, SCERT Kashmir Division; Ms. Anjum Raja, Chief Education Officer, Pulwama, Prof. Bashir Ahmad Sheikh, Principal, Degree College Pulwama and Ms. Rozi Qureshi, Principal, DIET Pampore. The event was attended by Cluster heads, Zonal Education Officers, headmasters, Zonal Nodal Officers, teachers, parents and students representing educational zones of both Govt and Private schools across the district. Ten students, accompanied by their teachers from each zone, participated in the celebration, making the occasion a meaningful recognition of the learners at the heart of the initiative.
Addressing the gathering, the Director School Education Kashmir congratulated Chief Education Officer Pulwama, Ms. Anjum Raja, and the entire Digital HPC team, with special appreciation for the District Nodal Officer, Dr Sajad Hussain Mir for their exceptional dedication, strategic planning and sustained efforts in achieving this milestone.
He appreciated the district’s coordinated approach to implementing Digital HPC and acknowledged the commitment of the educational fraternity in extending the initiative across the length and breadth of Pulwama.
The achievement is the outcome of a systematic district-wide strategy involving Orientation-cum-Hands-on Programmes, academic guidance, technical training, portal-based support and continuous follow-up.
The dedicated efforts of Zonal Nodal Officers, Cluster Heads, school administrators and teachers ensured that institutions received guidance in registering students, conducting competency-based assessments and generating progress cards. Particular emphasis was placed on reaching schools requiring additional assistance, guided by the district’s guiding principle: “No School Should Be Left Behind in Training and Orientation.”
Digital HPC represents a significant shift from conventional assessment practices towards a holistic, competency-based and learner-centric approach. Beyond academic achievement, it helps document children’s competencies, individual strengths, developmental needs and progress across different domains. It also strengthens collaboration between teachers and parents, enabling them to work together to support each child’s learning and overall development.
The celebration of Digital HPC Achievement Day – Pulwama 2026 was therefore more than a commemorative event; it was a recognition of collective commitment, institutional collaboration and educational innovation. Pulwama’s accomplishment demonstrates how visionary leadership, effective coordination and dedicated teachers can translate the goals of NEP 2020 into meaningful action. With this pioneering achievement, the district has established an encouraging example for other districts across Jammu and Kashmir, reaffirming its commitment to ensuring that every child is recognised, supported and empowered to flourish.
