Srinagar, Oct 30 (JKNS): Minister for Health and Medical Education Sakina Itoo has raised concerns over public inconvenience caused by convoy movement along the Srinagar–Anantnag–Kulgam–Qazigund National Highway, urging the Lieutenant Governor and concerned authorities to explore practical traffic management measures.

Ministwr Itoo, in a post on X, as per news agency JKNS, said frequent convoy movement along the highway has been causing hardships to commuters, with ambulances getting stranded, students missing classes and ordinary citizens waiting for 15 to 30 minutes, and sometimes even hours, for traffic to resume.

Questioning the hardships faced by the public, she appealed to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and the concerned authorities to consider measures that maintain essential security protocols while ensuring the uninterrupted passage of ambulances and minimising inconvenience to commuters.

“Security is paramount, but so is the well-being of our people. Security and compassion must go hand in hand,” Itoo said.

She further stressed that governance should be reflected in the everyday lives of citizens through dignity, sensitivity and meaningful relief. (JKNS)
