Srinagar, October 31 (JKNS): In a moment of immense pride and honour for the people of Kandi Karnah, Umar Peerzada, IRS, who successfully qualified the prestigious Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination 2024, was felicitated by the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha, during a special felicitation ceremony held at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC), Srinagar.
The recognition has brought immense happiness and pride to the Peer family of Kandi Karnah, as Umar Peerzada’s achievement stands as an inspiring example of determination, perseverance, academic commitment and the power of pursuing one’s dreams despite challenges.
The felicitation ceremony was organised by Exceptional IAS Academy to recognise and honour the outstanding achievements of successful candidates of the UPSC Civil Services Examination and Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service (JKAS) examinations. The event celebrated the hard work, dedication and perseverance of young achievers who have successfully crossed one of the most challenging competitive examination processes in the country.
The presence of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, who personally felicitated the successful candidates, added further significance to the occasion. The ceremony also acknowledged the important contribution of parents, teachers, mentors and educational institutions in shaping the journeys of these young achievers.
Umar Peerzada’s achievement is particularly significant for the remote and geographically challenging border region of Karnah, where young people often face limited educational resources, infrastructure constraints and several other difficulties while pursuing higher academic and professional goals.
His success has demonstrated that talent, determination and hard work can overcome geographical limitations and open doors to prestigious national-level opportunities. For the people of Kandi Karnah, his accomplishment is not merely an individual success but a source of collective inspiration and encouragement for the younger generation.
His journey towards the prestigious civil services represents years of preparation, discipline, patience and unwavering commitment to his goal. Qualifying the UPSC examination, widely regarded as one of India’s toughest competitive examinations, is itself a remarkable accomplishment, while his recognition at a high-profile ceremony in the presence of the Lieutenant Governor has added another memorable chapter to his success story.
The achievement has also placed the Peer family of Kandi Karnah in the spotlight, with relatives, well-wishers and members of the local community expressing happiness over the recognition bestowed upon Umar Peerzada.
The ceremony also carried an important message for the newly selected civil servants. While congratulating the successful candidates, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha urged them to uphold humility, compassion and integrity throughout their professional careers. He emphasised that public office is a trust placed in officers by the people and that the real measure of an administrator lies in the positive difference they bring to the lives of ordinary citizens.
He also encouraged the young officers to understand ground realities, strengthen transparent administrative systems, uphold institutional values and prioritise public welfare over the prestige associated with official positions.
Director of Exceptional Academy, Owais Ali Bhat, and other distinguished guests and officials were also present at the ceremony. The academy’s initiative provided a platform to recognise the accomplishments of young civil services qualifiers and motivate aspiring candidates to work towards similar goals.
For Karnah, a border constituency in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, Umar Peerzada’s accomplishment carries special significance. At a time when the youth of remote areas need positive role models and greater motivation, achievements like his reinforce the belief that the dreams of young people from far-flung villages can reach the highest levels of national service.
His felicitation by the Lieutenant Governor will undoubtedly remain a memorable occasion for the Peer family and the people of Kandi Karnah. The achievement is expected to inspire many aspiring students from the region to pursue higher education, competitive examinations and careers in public service with confidence and determination.
Umar Peerzada’s success is not just a personal milestone; it is a moment of collective pride for Kandi Karnah and a powerful reminder that the boundaries of geography cannot restrict the heights of ambition.(JKNS)
