Srinagar, October 31: Social activist Wahid Punjabi has appealed to Swiggy management to address the challenges faced by delivery partners in Kashmir, particularly during the harsh winter season.
Highlighting the difficulties faced by delivery riders, Wahid Punjabi said that several delivery partners are struggling with long pickup distances, rising fuel expenses and challenging weather conditions while carrying out their duties.
According to him, some riders have to travel 5–6 kilometres just to collect an order, bearing the cost of fuel and spending considerable time even before the actual delivery begins.
As part of his appeal, Punjabi urged Swiggy management to introduce special winter incentives for delivery partners working in Kashmir, prioritise orders from nearby locations, provide fair compensation for long-distance pickups and extend additional support during extreme winter conditions.
“As a social activist, it is my responsibility to raise genuine public issues and stand with those whose voices deserve to be heard,” Punjabi said in his appeal.
He emphasised that the initiative was not intended to criticise the company but to highlight the genuine concerns of hardworking delivery partners and seek fair and practical solutions.
Punjabi urged Swiggy management, including its concerned officials, to listen to the concerns of riders and take appropriate measures to improve their working conditions.
He said that delivery partners play an important role in ensuring timely services to customers and that their hard work, particularly in Kashmir’s difficult winter conditions, deserves recognition, fairness and respect.
The appeal calls for a more supportive working environment for delivery partners, with particular attention to the region’s weather conditions and the challenges associated with long-distance pickups.
