KARNAH Nov. 5 (JKNS): Residents of Dana Badwan village in Karnah have appealed to the concerned authorities to relocate a recently sanctioned gazebo project, estimated at ₹29.30 lakh, citing concerns over the proposed site and its importance to the local community.
According to residents, the proposed location serves as an important grazing area (Charagah) for livestock, and there are limited alternative grazing resources available in the vicinity. They fear that construction of the project at this particular location could restrict the movement of cattle and further reduce the already limited grazing space available to local livestock owners.
Residents have also highlighted the religious and cultural significance of the site, which is associated with the Ziyarat of Sufi saint Mian Mahmood Naqshbandi. The place holds considerable spiritual importance for devotees, and the annual Urs is also observed there. Locals believe that any construction or utilisation of the site for activities unrelated to its existing purpose could potentially disturb its religious sanctity and traditional character.
While appreciating the government’s initiative to promote tourism and develop public infrastructure, residents have suggested that the project be shifted to other suitable locations in Karnah, including Suleiman Kandara, Karanu, Jada Thama, Batla and Murcha, which they believe have better potential for such development.
The residents have urged the concerned authorities and district administration to take their concerns into consideration, conduct a proper assessment of the proposed site and relocate the project to an alternative location without compromising the community’s grazing resources and religious sentiments.
They have emphasised that their demand is not against development but seeks a balanced approach that safeguards local livelihoods, religious heritage and tourism potential.
The residents now await a positive response from the concerned authorities.(JKNS)
