Farooq calls legislators’ concerns genuine, says Omar Abdullah has assured action; reaffirms fight for Article 370, 35A
Srinagar, Nov 06 (JKNS): Amid growing speculation over internal differences within the National Conference following a meeting of several party legislators, NC president Dr Farooq Abdullah on Friday firmly dismissed reports of a possible split, asserting that the party remains united and that the concerns raised by MLAs would be addressed without delay.
Speaking to reporters at his Gupkar residence, as per news agency JKNS, Farooq said the legislators had brought their grievances to the notice of the party leadership and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who had assured them that their concerns would be looked into.
Describing the grievances as genuine, he said the leadership would hold discussions with the legislators and take necessary steps to resolve the issues.
Meanwhile, Gurez MLA Nazir Ahmad Khan, popularly known as Nazir Gurezi, said the gathering of some legislators had been unnecessarily amplified on social media, giving rise to speculation about a possible split within the party.
“Some MLAs sat together at one place the other day, but social media exaggerated it. Nobody has left the party,” he said.
Rejecting reports of a division within the National Conference, Farooq reiterated that the party leadership was committed to addressing the concerns of its legislators and maintaining unity within the organisation.
Reaffirming the party’s political position, he said the National Conference’s struggle for the restoration of Article 370 and Article 35A would continue.
He maintained that the issues raised by the legislators were genuine and would be addressed soon. (JKNS)
