Beerwah, Apr 22 (JKNS): An Anti-Drug Awareness Rally under the Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan was successfully held in Beerwah, witnessing the enthusiastic participation of around 500 students from various schools across Zone Beerwah.
The rally was organized by social activist Muzamil Mehmood in collaboration with Caring People Welfare Foundation Budgam.
The rally commenced from the Tehsil Office Beerwah and culminated at the Main Bus Stand Beerwah.
Students marched through the town holding banners and placards with messages such as “Say Yes to Life, No to Drugs,” raising powerful slogans against drug abuse and spreading awareness among the public about its harmful effects.
The event saw active participation from the Tehsil Administration Beerwah, Sub-Divisional Administration, Police Administration Beerwah, and several departments including Social Welfare, Education, Sports, and Health. Representatives from the Traders Federation, Youth Civil Society, Transport Association, Numberdar and Chowkidar Associations also joined the rally.
Among the prominent officials present were Tehsildar Beerwah Aaliya Tabasum and SHO Beerwah Aijaz Ahmad, who emphasized the need for coordinated and sustained efforts to combat the growing drug menace and safeguard the future of the youth.
During the rally, the Chairman of Caring People Welfare Foundation distributed water and juice among participants as a gesture of encouragement.
Addressing the gathering, social activist Muzamil Mehmood highlighted the importance of creating awareness among youth about the harmful effects of drug abuse. He stressed that safeguarding the younger generation is a shared responsibility and called for strong community participation, continuous awareness programmes, and parental vigilance.
He further added that awareness, guidance, and collective action are key to building a drug-free and responsible society.
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Police Beerwah appealed to the public to remain vigilant and report individuals involved in drug-related activities so that timely action can be taken.
The rally concluded with a strong message of unity, awareness, and collective responsibility, reaffirming the community’s commitment to eradicating the menace of drugs from society. (JKNS)
