Pulwama, May 1 (JKNS): Maintaining sustained pressure against the drug menace under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, Pulwama Police continued its district-wide operations with a mix of targeted enforcement actions and community engagement initiatives.

In a coordinated enforcement effort, multiple search operations were carried out across areas of Rajpora, Rahmoo, and Lassipora, focusing on residences of suspected drug peddlers and addicts to disrupt local narcotics networks. Vehicle checking was also intensified within the jurisdiction of Police Station Rajpora to monitor suspicious movement and prevent drug trafficking, police spokesperson said in a statement as per news agency JKNS.

Further action was taken in the Kakapora area, where a CASO (Cordon and Search Operation) was launched at Okhoo, leading to thorough searches of houses belonging to suspected individuals and adjoining premises to detect any NDPS-related contraband.

In a significant crackdown on illegal cultivation, joint teams of Police, Revenue, and Excise Departments destroyed illicit poppy and wild bhang cultivation on state land at Palpora. In a separate action at Wasoora, illegal poppy cultivation was identified and destroyed in the premises of an individual, leading to the registration of FIR No. 52/2026 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act.

Regulatory checks were also conducted in the Okhoo area, where several medical shops were inspected to ensure compliance with norms governing the sale of psychotropic substances and to prevent misuse of controlled drugs.

On the awareness front, a rally was organised at Lelhar after Friday prayers, witnessing participation from local Imams and residents, spreading a strong message against drug abuse and promoting collective responsibility towards a drug-free society.

Pulwama Police remains committed to sustained action against drug trafficking and abuse and urges the public to continue supporting the mission by sharing any information related to drug-related activities. (JKNS)
