MLA Khansahib Saif-ud-Din Bhat Lays Foundation Stones for Educational Projects, Participates in Nasha Mukt Abhiyan at Khag

Budgam, May 2 (JKNS): MLA Khansahib, Mr. Saif-ud-Din Bhat, today laid the foundation stone for a 6-room double-storey building at Higher Secondary School Khag under the UT Capex Project, with an estimated cost of ₹361.76 lakh.

On the same occasion, he also laid the foundation stone for an Additional Classroom (ACR), a Science Room, and a Library Room at the same institution under the Samagra Project, involving an estimated expenditure of ₹96.40 lakh.

While addressing the gathering, the MLA emphasized the importance of strengthening educational infrastructure and providing modern facilities to students. He stated that education remains a top priority and such initiatives will significantly enhance the academic environment in the area.

Later, he attended the Nasha Mukt Abhiyan programme as the Chief Guest at Government Middle School Khag. The programme was jointly organized by the Tehsil Administration, Education Department, and Police.

In his address, he stressed the need for collective efforts to eradicate drug abuse from society. He appealed to parents, teachers, and youth to work together towards building a drug-free society and safeguarding the future of the younger generation.

A student awareness rally was also held on the occasion, in which students of Government Middle School Khag actively participated. The rally commenced from the school premises and passed through the main market of Khag, with students raising anti-drug slogans. The MLA also joined the rally and encouraged the participants.

He urged the youth to stay away from drugs and engage in positive activities.

Tehsildar Khag, Moin Ahmad, also appealed to the youth to avoid drug abuse and adopt sports activities. He stated that drugs not only destroy the future of young individuals but also pose a serious threat to society. He encouraged youth to channel their energy into constructive pursuits, particularly sports, to build a healthy and strong community. He further added that sports promote physical fitness, mental well-being, and discipline, helping young people stay away from negative influences.

The Zonal Education Officer Khag also spoke on the importance of awareness among students and highlighted the role of educational institutions.

In the end, Cultural Coordinator Khag Zone, Ijaz Ahmad, presented the vote of thanks and appreciated the efforts of all departments and participants in making the programme a success.

Among others present on the occasion were the Tehsildar Khag, ZEO Khag, officials from R&B Department, AEE, officers from various departments, members of civil society, and local residents. (JKNS)
