Baramulla, May 7 (JKNS): A sudden fire broke out in the forest area of Zamzampora in Sheeri Block of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday, officials said.
As per news agency JKNS, soon after the incident, local youths from the Zandfaran area rushed to the spot and actively participated in efforts to control the blaze.
Officials said nearly 90 percent of the fire was brought under control through their timely response.
On the directions of SHO Police Station Sheeri, Jazab Bhat, police teams reached the spot along with officials of the Forest Department and Fire & Emergency Services.
After joint efforts by police, forest officials, firefighters and local volunteers, the fire was successfully brought under control, preventing further damage to the forest area. (JKNS)
