Srinagar, May 9 (JKNS): Jammu and Kashmir continued to witness dry and unusually warm weather conditions on Friday, with several places across the Valley recording temperatures significantly above normal, while Srinagar touched 31.7 degrees Celsius.
According to Meteorological Department data available with news agency JKNS, Srinagar recorded a maximum temperature of 31.7°C, which was 7.6 degrees above normal, while the minimum temperature settled at 12.5°C.
Qazigund registered a maximum temperature of 31.0°C, remaining 7.8 degrees above normal, while Pahalgam recorded 25.2°C, which was 4.5 degrees above the seasonal average.
Kupwara recorded a day temperature of 29.5°C, above normal by 4.8 degrees, while Kukernag settled at 28.6°C, nearly 6 degrees above normal.
Gulmarg, the famous tourist destination, recorded a maximum temperature of 23.0°C, which was 8.3 degrees above normal, making it one of the highest departures across Jammu and Kashmir.
In Jammu division, Jammu city recorded a maximum temperature of 35.1°C, while Banihal registered 30.0°C. Batote, Katra and Bhaderwah also witnessed mainly dry weather conditions during the day.
The MeT department said no rainfall activity was recorded in any major station across Jammu and Kashmir during the past 24 hours, while humidity levels remained moderate in most areas.
Officials said the weather is likely to remain generally dry during the coming days, with above-normal temperatures expected to persist across several parts of the Union Territory. (JKNS)
