Udhampur, May 10 (JKNS): Emphasising the vital role of mothers and families in protecting youth from substance abuse, DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range, Shri Shiv Kumar Sharma (IPS), on Sunday said that collective efforts and awareness at the family level are essential to build a safe, aware and drug-free society.

 

As per news agency JKNS, JCM Group, Udhampur organized a vibrant Cultural Event-cum-Drug Awareness Programme aimed at celebrating the spirit of motherhood while spreading awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse among youth.

 

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from children of various age groups, who showcased their talent and creativity through a series of cultural performances.

 

The initiative effectively combined cultural activities with social awareness, creating an engaging platform to educate young minds on important societal issues.

 

Shiv Kumar Sharma, IPS, DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and addressed the gathering comprising children, parents and members of the public.

 

In his address, the DIG emphasized the importance of building a drug-free society and highlighted the crucial role of families and communities in preventing substance abuse.

 

He urged parents to maintain open communication with their children, guide them positively and foster an environment that promotes healthy and responsible choices.

 

The DIG also appreciated the efforts of the organizers for conducting such a meaningful programme that successfully blended entertainment with awareness and social responsibility.

 

The event concluded with the distribution of awards and recognition among participants. The programme reinforced the message that ensuring a safe, aware and drug-free society is a collective responsibility.
