Shopian, May 13 (JKNS): Continuing its crackdown under the ongoing Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan, Jammu and Kashmir Police in Shopian on Wednesday arrested an alleged drug peddler and recovered 928 grams of Charas-like substance from his possession during naka checking in Zainapora area.
As per news agency JKNS, police spokesperson said, it arrested one drug peddler and recovered Charas-like substance from his possession.
During routine naka checking at Aaripora Turkwangam, a police party from Police Post Turkwangam observed a person moving under suspicious circumstances and tactfully apprehended him.
Upon search, a 928grams Charas-like substance was recovered from his possession. The accused has been identified as Mohd Yousuf Sheikh son of Sanaullah Sheikh resident of Kangnu Turkwangam.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 72/2026 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Zainapora.
Further investigation is underway to establish forward and backward linkages and to dismantle the broader drug network involved.
