Pulwama, May 20 (JKNS): In a heartening display of communal harmony and shared brotherhood, hundreds of Muslims and Sikhs on Wednesday participated in the last rites of an elderly Kashmiri Pandit woman in Midora village of Tral in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

As per news agency JKNS, The elderly woman passed away at her ancestral home in Midora, where her family had continued to reside despite the turbulent years of militancy in Kashmir, unlike many Kashmiri Pandit families who migrated from the Valley during the 1990s.

Her demise triggered an outpouring of grief across the village, where she was widely respected and known among people of all communities.

Residents said people from Muslim and Sikh communities, including those from nearby villages, visited the bereaved family to offer condolences and stand in solidarity during the mourning period.

Hundreds of locals joined the funeral procession and last rites, while villagers also arranged firewood and other necessary support for the cremation rituals.

Locals described the participation as a reflection of Kashmir’s centuries-old traditions of coexistence, mutual respect and communal brotherhood that continue to survive despite difficult times. (JKNS)
