Srinagar, May 24 (JKNS): Renowned artist and Chairman of The Kashmir Music Club Srinagar, Waheed Jeelani, met Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and raised several issues concerning the artist fraternity of Jammu and Kashmir, while also inviting him to inaugurate the upcoming grand music and dance festival “Shashrang Season 15 & 16.
As per news agency JKNS, Waheed Jeelani, called on Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Manoj Sinha Ji, who is also the President of the Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, and apprised him about various day to day issues being faced by the artist fraternity of Jammu & Kashmir.
During the meeting, Waheed Jeelani highlighted the urgent need for artist welfare measures, protection of Jammu & Kashmir’s cultural identity, and promotion and preservation of the region’s original and traditional art forms, especially Sufi, folk and traditional music and dance.
He also extended a formal invitation to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Ji to inaugurate the upcoming two day grand music and dance festival “Shashrang Season 15 & 16” scheduled to be held in the last week of June 2026.
Waheed Jeelani expressed hope that the government will continue to support genuine artists and cultural organisations working tirelessly for the preservation and promotion of the rich artistic heritage of Jammu & Kashmir. (JKNS)
