Budgam, Jun 5 (JKNS): The Tehsil Legal Services Committee (TLSC) Beerwah organized an awareness programme at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Atina, Beerwah, on the occasion of World Environment Day 2026.
The programme aimed to promote environmental awareness, legal literacy, and social responsibility among students and the local community.
The event was led by Learned Legal Aid Defense Counsel (LADC) Mr. Zahoor Ahmad Malik, accompanied by Panel Lawyers Advocate Bilal Ahmad Rather and Advocate Naseer Ahmad Khan.
A large number of students, teachers, legal professionals, and local residents participated in the programme. The speakers highlighted the importance of environmental conservation, legal awareness, and access to justice, emphasizing that these elements are essential for building a responsible and informed society.
Speaking on the occasion, Advocate Bilal Ahmad Rather elaborated on the constitutional rights and duties of citizens. He stressed that legal awareness is crucial for ensuring justice, equality, and environmental responsibility. Advocate Naseer Ahmad Khan spoke about the role of legal institutions in safeguarding citizens’ rights and providing free legal aid to deserving individuals.
Resource persons from TLSC Beerwah informed the participants about the role and services of the Legal Services Authority, particularly its efforts to provide free legal assistance to marginalized and underprivileged sections of society. They also delivered detailed presentations on important social issues, including child rights, women’s rights, cyber safety, environmental protection, and prevention of drug abuse.
The speakers encouraged students to become ambassadors of legal awareness, environmental protection, and social responsibility within their communities and to help spread awareness about these important issues.
The students described the programme as highly informative and beneficial, stating that it enhanced their understanding of legal rights, civic duties, and environmental conservation. They noted that such initiatives play a significant role in shaping responsible, informed, and environmentally conscious citizens.
The school administration appreciated the efforts of TLSC Beerwah and expressed hope that similar programmes would continue in the future to further educate students on legal, social, and environmental issues.
The programme concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, during which participants raised various queries and received guidance from legal experts.
The event was successfully conducted with the support of TLSC staff and Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) of Beerwah. At the conclusion of the programme, the Headmaster of GHSS Atina delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to TLSC Beerwah, the resource persons, and all participants for making the programme a success.
