Srinagar, Jun 11 (JKNS): Traffic movement on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) will remain suspended during night hours on June 12, 14 and 16 to facilitate road relaying and bituminous works at various locations, including the critical Nachlana stretch in Ramban district, officials said on Thursday.
An official from traffic department told news agency JKNS, that on the request of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), the District Magistrate Ramban, vide Order No. ADMR/542-54 dated June 10, 2026, has granted permission for execution of bituminous works during night hours on June 12, 14 and 16.
Accordingly, traffic shall remain suspended between Nashri and Navyug Tunnel on the intervening nights of June 12/13, June 14/15 and June 16/17 from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM each night.
The official said that in view of the traffic suspension, no vehicle of any kind will be allowed to move after 5:00 PM from Udhampur towards Ramban, Banihal and Srinagar.
Similarly, no vehicle will be allowed to move after 8:00 PM from Qazigund towards Banihal, Ramban, Udhampur and Jammu on the specified dates.
The traffic department has advised operators of load carriers transporting fresh perishables and livestock to plan and load their vehicles accordingly to avoid inconvenience.
Commuters have also been advised to contact Traffic Control Units (TCUs) before undertaking their journey on NH-44 on June 13, 15 and 17 to obtain the latest traffic updates and avoid inconvenience.
The official said the temporary suspension has been ordered to ensure the safety of commuters, travellers and drivers during the execution of the road works. (JKNS)
