Srinagar, Jun 12 (JKNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Friday revoked the suspension of Balbir Kumar, the then Chief Education Officer (CEO) Bandipora, and ordered a major reshuffle in the School Education Department by placing 22 Principals as In-Charge Chief Education Officers and effecting transfers and postings of several senior officers across the Union Territory.

According to Government Order No. 226-JK (Edu) of 2026 dated June 12, a copy of which lies with news agency JKNS, the suspension of Balbir Kumar, who had been placed under suspension and attached with the Directorate of School Education Kashmir on February 20, 2026, has been revoked with immediate effect.

The order states that the Competent Authority, after considering the facts and circumstances of the case, decided to take a lenient view and revoke the suspension.

Consequently, Balbir Kumar, In-Charge Chief Education Officer, has been posted and adjusted in the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Jammu, against an available vacancy with immediate effect.

In a separate order, Government Order No. 227-JK (Edu) of 2026, the School Education Department accorded sanction to the placement of 22 Principals and equivalent officers as In-Charge Chief Education Officers and equivalent positions in their own pay and grade.

The placements include Nazeer Ahmad Khan, Sarvadhaman Kumar, Pushpa Bhat, Veena Kumari, Irvinder Kour, Raj Kumari, Javid Iqbal Gulshan, Renuka Nagpal, Rozi Qureshi, Kalpana Jasrotia, Neetu Gandotra, Rafiq Ahmad Mir, Shadi Lal Gupta, Nikhat Mir, Anjum Raja, Farooq Ahmad Dar, Bashir Ahmad Ganai (RBA), Sapna Suri, Ghulam Nabi Najar, Fayaz Ahmad Mir, Wahida Sheikh and Abdul Rashid Malla.

The government also ordered a series of transfers and postings involving Chief Education Officers, Principals of District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs), Deputy CEOs and other senior officials.

Among the key changes, Oneel Kumar Bhat has been transferred from CEO Ganderbal and posted as Associate Professor in JK SCERT, while Sanjeev Kumar Suri, CEO Ramban, has been posted as Principal DIET Rajouri.

Rifat Irfan Qadri has been transferred from CEO Budgam and posted as CEO Reasi, while Bashir Ahmad Ganai has been posted as CEO Budgam in his place. Farooq Ahmad Dar has been posted as CEO Pulwama and Anjum Raja as CEO Anantnag.

Javid Iqbal Gulshan has been posted as CEO Poonch and will additionally hold the charge of Principal DIET Poonch, while Rafiq Ahmad Mir has been posted as CEO Bandipora and will also hold the additional charge of Principal DIET Bandipora.

The order states that all placements and postings shall remain subject to applicable service rules and the outcome of any pending court cases, if any.

Officers have been directed to join their new places of posting within ten days from the issuance of the order, failing which their placements shall be deemed cancelled without any further notice, the order added. (JKNS)
