Bandipora Jun 15 (JKNS): Hundreds of Seasonal Casual Labourers of the Mechanical Irrigation Department staged a protest in the premises of the Executive Engineer MID Division Shadipora Sonawari, demanding justice and better working conditions.

As pwr news agency JKNS, The protest was led by the State President of the Seasonal Casual Labourers Association, Reyaz Ahmad, who was accompanied by the Division President, Hilal Ahmad.

Addressing the Media the protesting labourers expressed strong resentment over what they described as unfair treatment by the authorities. They stated that despite working throughout the year, they are paid wages for only five months, which they said is insufficient to support their families and meet basic living expenses.

The labourers said that they continue to perform their duties year-round and questioned why they receive remuneration for only a limited period. They added that while regularization remains a distant dream, the government should at least grant them the status of Daily Wagers so that they can receive fair compensation for their work.

The protesters appealed to the government to take immediate steps to address their grievances and ensure justice for the Seasonal Casual Labourers who have been serving the department for years.

“We work throughout the year but receive wages for only five months. This is causing immense hardship to our families. We appeal to the government to either regularize our services or at least engage us as Daily Wagers,” the protesters said. This version is suitable for publication in newspapers, news portals, and press releases.
