Srinagar, Jun 23 (JKNS): Social activist and youth leader Adv. Jehanzeb Allaqaband on Tuesday called on Dr. Shashi Tharoor, Member of Parliament, former Union Minister, and Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on External Affairs, during his visit to Srinagar.
During the interaction, Adv. Allaqaband briefed Dr. Tharoor about The Kashmir Conclave, a major initiative being organised in Srinagar with the objective of creating a platform for meaningful dialogue and engagement among policymakers, diplomats, academicians, entrepreneurs, industry leaders, youth representatives, and distinguished personalities from across the country. The conclave aims to foster discussions on youth empowerment, innovation, economic development, public policy, tourism, investment, and the future aspirations of Jammu & Kashmir.
The meeting also featured an in-depth discussion on the ongoing anti-drug campaign spearheaded by Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha. Adv. Allaqaband lauded the Lieutenant Governor’s visionary leadership, unwavering commitment, and proactive approach in addressing the growing challenge of substance abuse in Jammu & Kashmir. He noted that under Shri Manoj Sinha’s leadership, the anti-drug campaign has evolved beyond a government initiative into a mass people’s movement, inspiring active participation from youth, civil society organisations, educational institutions, religious leaders, and local communities.
Adv. Allaqaband observed that the Lieutenant Governor’s relentless efforts towards youth engagement, awareness generation, rehabilitation initiatives, and community mobilisation have played a pivotal role in strengthening the fight against drug abuse. He stated that Shri Manoj Sinha’s commitment to safeguarding the future of the younger generation has earned widespread appreciation across Jammu & Kashmir and has set an example of responsive and people-centric governance.
Both leaders acknowledged the importance of sustained public participation and collective responsibility in eliminating the menace of drugs and ensuring a healthier, safer, and more prosperous future for the youth of Jammu & Kashmir.
Adv. Allaqaband expressed his gratitude to Dr. Tharoor for his valuable time, insightful guidance, and encouragement towards the vision and objectives of The Kashmir Conclave. He remarked that Dr. Tharoor’s perspectives on youth engagement, governance, diplomacy, and national development were highly inspiring and enriching.
