Karnah, June 26 (JKNS): A solemn Muharram procession was taken out on Friday from Gundi Sayedan to Chamkote in the border Sub-Division of Karnah, where a large number of mourners gathered to commemorate the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and his devoted companions in the Battle of Karbala.
The procession witnessed the participation of men, women, and youth from Gundi Sayedan, Chamkote and adjoining villages. Mourners marched in a disciplined manner while reciting Noha and Marsiya, remembering the unparalleled sacrifice of Imam Hussain (AS), who stood for justice, truth, humanity, and resistance against tyranny.
The atmosphere throughout the procession remained peaceful and spiritually charged, with participants carrying religious flags and expressing their grief and devotion in memory of the martyrs of Karbala.
Religious scholars addressed the gathering and highlighted the timeless teachings of Imam Hussain (AS), urging people to uphold the values of patience, compassion, unity, and righteousness in their daily lives.
The local administration and Jammu & Kashmir Police made adequate security and traffic arrangements to ensure the smooth and peaceful conduct of the procession.
Volunteers from the local community also played an active role in guiding participants, regulating movement, and assisting devotees throughout the route.
Residents appreciated the cooperation between the administration, security agencies, and the local community, which helped the religious event conclude peacefully and in an orderly manner.
The procession ended at Chamkote with special prayers for peace, communal harmony, and the well-being of the people.
Muharram, particularly the Day of Ashura, is observed by Muslims across the world in remembrance of the supreme sacrifice of Imam Hussain (AS) and the martyrs of Karbala, symbolising the enduring values of justice, truth, sacrifice, and steadfastness in the face of oppression. (JKNS)
