Kupwara, June 26 (JKNS): A 16-year-old boy who sustained an accidental gunshot injury at his residence in Anwarabad Salkoot area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Friday succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Official sources told news agency JKNS that the incident occurred in the afternoon, when the minor, identified as Fahad Bhat, son of Faizul Islam, accidentally suffered a gunshot injury after a licensed bore gun kept at his residence went off.
The injured boy was immediately shifted to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Kupwara, where doctors provided initial treatment before referring him to SMHS Hospital, Srinagar, for advanced medical care.
However, despite the efforts of doctors, the teenager succumbed to his injuries during treatment, officials sources said.
Police have registered an FIR under relevant sections Police Station Kupwara under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Indian Arms Act.
An investigation has been initiated to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident, official said. (JKNS)
