Karnah, July 4 (JKNS): Following a disruptive night-time fire earlier this week, representatives of the Sikh minority community in Karnah have publicly praised the District Administration and Police for their swift and reassuring intervention.
The incident, which took place during the intervening night of June 30 and July 1, 2026, resulted in significant damage to two cars and a motorcycle. However, a potentially tense situation was quickly stabilized by the rapid on-ground response of emergency services and law enforcement, who immediately registered a First Information Report (FIR) and launched a thorough investigation.
To discuss security concerns and the progress of the investigation, a community delegation—led by retired Information Officer S. Makhan Singh Sudan—met directly with the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Kupwara and the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Kupwara.
During the meeting, top district officials assured the delegation that the case is being treated as a top priority.
Expressing full satisfaction with the government’s proactive stance, Rtd information officer Makhan Singh Sudan and Gurudwara committee chairman Joginder Singh Inqalabi on behalf of the Sikh community reiterated their strong bonds with the local majority population in this border region. They issued a joint appeal to all sections of society to uphold the spirit of brotherhood that defines Karnah.
Furthermore, community leaders urged the public to remain vigilant against misinformation, advising citizens to completely disregard rumors aimed at disturbing local peace while the legal process runs its course. (JKNS)
