Srinagar, July 17 (JKNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Secretariat has sought comments from the Deputy Chief Minister after a breach of privilege notice was filed against him by MLA Ranbir Singh Pathania, alleging exclusion from official programmes held in his constituency.

According to documents accessed by news agency JKNS, the Assembly Secretariat has written to the Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the Deputy Chief Minister, directing that comments on the matter be furnished within seven days.

The matter was placed before the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, who directed that the Deputy Chief Minister’s response be obtained in the first instance before further proceedings.

MLA Ranbir Singh Pathania, in his privilege notice, alleged that the Deputy Chief Minister’s actions led to his exclusion from official functions and government programmes organized in his constituency, claiming it amounted to a breach of legislative privilege.

Further action in the matter is expected after the Assembly Secretariat receives the Deputy Chief Minister’s reply. (JKNS)
