Srinagar, July 19 (JKNS): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Sunday said he has been closely monitoring the situation arising from the extremely heavy rainfall and flash floods that hit parts of Jammu, particularly Rajouri town and its adjoining areas.
CM Omar in a post on X, as per news agency JKNS said that since first light this morning, he has been keeping a close watch on the evolving situation and has remained in contact with the local MLAs from the affected region.
“Since first light this morning I’ve been closely monitoring the situation arising from the extremely heavy rain in parts of Jammu, especially Rajouri town & surrounding areas,” the Chief Minister posted.
He said that while the situation continues to unfold, the administration’s immediate priority is to safeguard human lives.
“I’ve been in touch with the local MLAs of the region. While the situation continues to unfold the first priority of the administration is to safeguard precious lives,” Omar Abdullah said.
The Chief Minister also assured that the government will extend every possible assistance to those affected by the flash floods and heavy rains.
“The government will do everything possible to aid & assist affected people who have suffered property loss/damage due to the rains & flash floods,” he added.
Several areas of Rajouri witnessed flash floods following intense overnight rainfall, causing damage to vehicles, houses and other infrastructure, while the administration and rescue agencies are assessing the extent of losses. (JKNS)
