Uri, July 31 (JKNS): As part of Operation Sadbhavna, the Indian Army on Friday organised a comprehensive Medical and Veterinary Assistance Camp at Gohallan village in Uri, providing free healthcare services to hundreds of residents and livestock owners from remote border villages.
The camp was conducted by the Bajrang Battalion, with their medical officer and a Veterinary Officer from army along with Dr. Mohd Naiem, Veterinary Assistant Surgeon, Uri and a team of medical and veterinary staff.
A total of 279 patients, including 108 men, 116 women, and 55 children, received free medical consultations, medicines, and preventive healthcare guidance. Special consultations on maternal health, antenatal care, menstrual hygiene, child healthcare, nutrition, and seasonal disease prevention were also provided.
Simultaneously, the veterinary team examined and treated 316 livestock, including 52 cattle, 45 buffaloes, 100 goats, 96 sheep, 9 poultry birds, and 14 horses/ponies. Services included health check-ups, vaccination, deworming, treatment, and awareness on scientific animal husbandry and disease prevention.
Residents from Sangna, Choti Gohallan, and Badi Gohallan attended the camp in large numbers and appreciated the Indian Army for this initiative. Refreshments and drinking water were also arranged for all participants.
The initiative reflects army’s continued commitment to the welfare of border communities under Operation Sadbhavna and further strengthened the longstanding bond between the Army and local population. (JKNS)
