LOC Teetwal, Karnah (JKNS)| Three BJP legislators of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly on Sunday visited the historic Sharda Temple at Teetwal in Karnah and paid obeisance to Sharda Maa.
The visiting legislators included Daleep Singh, MLA Bhaderwah; Sunil Bhardwaj, MLA Ram Nagar (SC); and Ranbir Singh Pathania, MLA Udhampur East. They were received by representatives of the Save Sharda Committee Kashmir, who briefed them about the Committee’s initiatives for the preservation and promotion of Sharda heritage and interfaith harmony.
SDM Karnah, Rayaz Ahmad (JKAS), along with representatives of the Civil Administration, was also present on the occasion.
During the visit, the legislators stressed the need for reopening of Sharda Peeth in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, describing it as an important symbol of Kashmir’s ancient cultural, spiritual and civilisational heritage.
The legislators also appreciated the efforts of the Save Sharda Committee Kashmir in preserving the legacy of Sharda culture and promoting interfaith understanding and harmony.
The visit highlighted the historical and cultural significance of the Sharda Temple at Teetwal, located near the Line of Control in Karnah, and the continued efforts to preserve the region’s shared heritage.
Ravinder Pandita, representative of the Save Sharda Committee Kashmir, said that the demand for reopening Sharda Peeth is connected with longstanding faith, cultural heritage and historical ties associated with the ancient seat of learning and spirituality.
The visit concluded with emphasis on preserving Kashmir’s diverse cultural heritage and strengthening the spirit of peace, harmony and mutual respect.(JKNS)
