Srinagar, October 7, 2026: Cluster University Srinagar successfully conducted the State-Level Trial Selection for the North Zone Pre-Republic Day (Pre-RD) Parade Camp 2026 in collaboration with the Regional Directorate of NSS, New Delhi, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.
The prestigious event was organized under the overall guidance and visionary leadership of the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Cluster University Srinagar, Prof.(Dr.) Mohammad Mobin, whose continued encouragement has provided significant impetus to the NSS and youth development initiatives. The Hon’ble Vice Chancellor expressed his satisfaction over the successful conduct of the trial and emphasized that NSS volunteers should come forward with greater enthusiasm and dedication to serve society and contribute meaningfully to nation building, leadership and community development.
The selection trial was graced by the personal presence of Regional Director, NSS, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports , Govt. Of India Mr. Shrawan Ram, who visited Kashmir to oversee the proceedings. Ms. Ritika Verma, from Regional Directorate of NSS, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, also remained present and actively participated in the selection process.
Representing the State Nodal Officer, NSS, J&K, Dr. Waqar Ahmad NSS Programme Coordinator, University of Kashmir, attended the trial as the nominee of the State Nodal Officer and contributed to the proceedings.
Around 65 NSS volunteers participated in the selection trial, representing NIT Srinagar, University of Kashmir, Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), Islamia College of Science and Commerce, SKUAST Kashmir, and several other colleges of the Kashmir Division, including all the constituent and affiliated colleges of Cluster University Srinagar.
The volunteers were assessed on various prescribed parameters, including physical fitness, running , discipline, turnout, confidence, communication skills, personality and overall suitability for participation in the North Zone Pre-RD Camp.
Addressing the volunteers, Registrar, Cluster University Srinagar, Dr. Syed Wilayat Hussain Rizvi, appreciated their enthusiasm and commitment to NSS. He encouraged them to remain actively involved in community service and uphold the core values of service, discipline, leadership and national integration.
The successful conduct of the event was made possible through the dedicated efforts of University officials, faculty members, NSS functionaries, Programme Coordinator NSS and non-teaching staff, whose close coordination ensured professional arrangements and smooth execution of the selection process.
The NSS functionaries and officials representing various universities and colleges expressed their appreciation and satisfaction over the excellent arrangements and professional conduct of the trial. They conveyed their gratitude to the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor for providing the opportunity to host this important National level NSS activity at Cluster University Srinagar and for extending the full support of University and hospitality to the participating institutions and volunteers.
The successful organization of the trial has further strengthened inter-institutional coordination and collaboration in NSS activities and reflects the commitment of Cluster University Srinagar to nurturing disciplined, confident, socially responsible and nation-oriented youth.
The entire selection trial was coordinated by the NSS Cell of the University , whose sustained coordination with the Regional Directorate, State NSS authorities, participating institutions and University administration contributed significantly to the successful completion of the event.
