Jammu, Oct 27 (JKNS): As part of celebrations marking the 80th Infantry Day, Tiger Division successfully flagged in High Altitude
Trekking and Cycling Expeditions on 27 October 2026. The expeditions commemorated the glorious legacy of
the Indian Infantry and paid tribute to the valour, sacrifice and unwavering dedication of generations of
infantrymen who have served the nation.

The High-Altitude Trekking Expedition, conducted from 25 September to 27 October 2026, traversed the
challenging route of 170 Kilometres from Shialkhar to Hansa in the Lahaul-Spiti Valley of Himachal Pradesh.
Negotiating rugged mountainous terrain and demanding high-altitude conditions, the participating troops
demonstrated exceptional physical endurance, mental fortitude, teamwork and resilience, reflecting the
indomitable spirit of the Infantry.

The Cycling Expedition, conducted from 10 to 27 October 2026, covered a distance of 1,064 Kilometres
from Jammu to Kullu (Himachal Pradesh) and back. Traversing diverse terrain and challenging road conditions
across Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh, the expedition showcased the courage,
determination and team spirit of the participating soldiers.

During the expeditions, the teams interacted with Veer Naris, veterans, local population, NCC cadets and
school children en route, spreading awareness about career opportunities in the Indian Army and instilling a sense of patriotism and nationalism. As part of environmental awareness, a plantation drive was also undertaken
at various locations. Interaction with local population has strengthened civil-military relations and promoted the
values and traditions of the Indian Army.

The successful culmination of both expeditions on 27 October 2026 served as a befitting tribute to the 80th Infantry Day, reinforcing the Infantry’s cherished values of Naam, Namak and Nishan. The initiatives
highlighted the spirit of adventure, camaraderie, perseverance and operational resilience that define the Indian
Infantry, reaffirming its unwavering commitment to safeguarding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the
nation. (JKNS)
