Unified Push for ‘Hill District Status’ Gains Momentum in Qazigund

Qazigund, Apr 12 (JKNS): A significant meeting of political representatives, socio-political activists, Auqaf members, and local residents of the Qazigund area was convened today at Town Hall Qazigund to deliberate on the long-pending demand for granting Hill District status to Qazigund.

On the occasion, a joint platform titled “Gateway of Kashmir Ittehad Union Qazigund” was constituted to collectively pursue and strengthen the demand for the region’s administrative upgradation.

 

The meeting witnessed enthusiastic participation from all sections of society, reflecting a strong sense of unity and collective concern over the issue.

 

Participants unanimously voiced their support, emphasizing that Qazigund popularly known as the “Gateway of Kashmir” deserves special administrative recognition in view of its geographical, economic, and strategic importance.

 

Speakers on the occasion highlighted that granting Hill District status would significantly boost infrastructure development, enhance administrative efficiency, and create new employment opportunities for the youth of the region.

 

Among the prominent dignitaries present were Auqaf President Qazigund Peerzada Mohammad Shafi, BJP senior leader and Waqaf Board Executive Abid Hussain Khan, former DDC Member Vessu-Qazigund Bilal Ahmad Deva, socio-political activists Mir Mudasir Rashid and Fayaz Ahmad Shah, Abdul Hamid Baikishi (District General Secretary Kulgam, Apni Party), Hilal Ahmad Wani (CPIM member), Ashak Hussain Wani (CPIM Area Secretary Kund), and Chowdhary Nazir Gujjar, a community representative from Kund.

 

The meeting concluded with a unanimous resolution to continue peaceful efforts and sustained public engagement under the banner of the newly formed union until the demand for granting Hill District status to Qazigund is fulfilled. (JKNS)
