Reasi, Apr 13 (JKNS): Minister Satish Sharma on Monday unveiled a commemorative bust of legendary military commander General Zorawar Singh in Reasi, paying rich tributes on his birth anniversary and emphasizing the need to preserve the legacy of national heroes to inspire future generations.

 

As per news agency JKNS, Minister Sharma, unveiled a commemorative bust of the legendary military commander General Zorawar Singh in Reasi, marking his birth anniversary with great reverence and patriotic fervor.

 

The function was organized by the General Zorawar Singh Memorial Educational and Charitable Trust, drawing participation from senior officials of the District Administration including Additional District Commisioner,Superintendent of Poice , and members of the public.

 

Speaking on the occasion , the Minister paid glowing tributes to General Zorawar Singh, popularly known as the “Napoleon of the East,” and hailed his extraordinary military acumen, courage, and unmatched contributions to the nation. He emphasized that the life and legacy of such iconic figures serve as a guiding light for future generations.

 

“General Zorawar Singh’s valor, strategic brilliance, and indomitable spirit remain a source of inspiration for all. It is our collective responsibility to preserve and promote the legacy of such heroes so that the youth remain connected to their glorious past,” the Minister said.

 

Highlighting the role of educational and cultural institutions, Satish Sharma appreciated the efforts of the Trust in commemorating the General’s contributions and fostering awareness among the younger generation about the region’s rich history and heritage.

 

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and staff of various schools, who paid floral tributes and showcased deep respect for the historic icon. The atmosphere resonated with patriotic zeal as attendees remembered the General’s unparalleled service and sacrifices.

 

Chairman of the Trust, Devinder Singh Kaluria, along with Avtar Singh Jamwal and other members, expressed gratitude to the Chief Guest and all attendees for their support and presence. They reiterated their commitment to promoting the values of courage, patriotism, and sacrifice through continued educational and social initiatives.

 

Later, the Minister also visited the Sports Stadium in Reasi, where he interacted with young football players and encouraged them to pursue sports with dedication and discipline. He reiterated the government’s commitment to strengthening sports infrastructure and providing greater opportunities for youth to excel at national and international levels.

 

The Minister also inspected the Mother & Child Hospital in Reasi, where he reviewed the healthcare facilities and functioning of the institution. He interacted with doctors, staff, and patients, emphasizing the need for efficient service delivery, improved patient care, and strengthening of healthcare infrastructure to meet public needs.
