Jammu, Apr 16 (JKNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board on Thursday formally commenced construction work on the long-pending Jamia Masjid at Talab Khatikan in Jammu, with Chairperson Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi visiting the site and issuing strict directions for its completion within a stipulated timeframe.

Waqf Board officially begun the construction of Jamia Masjid Talab Khatikan in Jammu. Jammu & Kashmir Waqf Board Chairperson Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi today visited the site and gave instructions for the completion of this project within the stipulated time frame.

This is the largest grand mosque of Jammu and its construction remained incomplete due to the mismanagement for years. Waqf Board took the responsibility of completion of the project and today the work began during the visit of the Chairperson of the Board.

“We have decided not to waste our energy on digging the past misappropriation & mismanagement which wasted years on the construction of this significant prayer centre in Jammu city. Instead Board has taken up the construction work and we as per our tradition of the past few years will be completing it soon within the stipulated time frame. I personally finalized the plan and instructed the engineering wing to ensure the quality work & complete it without delays”, said Dr Darakhshan.

Waqf Chairperson met the eminent people of the locality and sought their support. The civil society members thanked Dr Andrabi for her initiative and expressed their hope that now this project will definitely be completed.
