Srinagar, Nov 11 (JKNS): Peoples Democratic Party candidate Aga Muntazir Mehdi on Tuesday said that Budgam voters are turning out in large numbers to “reject years of injustice” allegedly committed by the National Conference.
Speaking to reporters after casting his vote, Mehdi as per news agency JKNS said, “Earlier elections won by the NC were sentiment-driven, but this time people are voting in protest against unfulfilled promises.”
He said the electorate feels this election can correct past wrongs. “People believe today’s vote will deliver justice. Promises made earlier were never fulfilled on the ground, and that has pushed voters to express their anger through ballots,” he said.
On Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s recent campaign visit to Budgam, Mehdi remarked, “Such visits make no difference. People have decided they will no longer be treated as spare wheels or second options. Those who abandoned locals at the last moment cannot regain trust by showing up now.” (JKNS)
