Anantnag, Apr 18 (JKNS): In a major anti-narcotics operation under the Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyaan, Anantnag Police intensified its crackdown on drug trafficking networks, registering four separate NDPS cases across multiple police stations and arresting four accused persons with recovery of over 11 kilograms of narcotic substances.
As per news agency JKNS, Anantnag Police has intensified its drive against drug peddling and narcotics smuggling. In a series of successful operations carried out by different Police Stations, four major cases under the NDPS Act have been registered, leading to the arrest of four accused persons and recovery of significant quantities of contraband substances.
Case Details, PS Uttrasoo: During naka checking at Chatergul Chowk, one Alto vehicle (JK03K‑9820) was intercepted. Search led to recovery of 1 kg Charas powder and 100 gms Charas balls. Accused Farooq Ahmad Khan S/O Fazil Khan R/O Poshnari was arrested. Accused is government employee he is working as class 4th in Vailoo court. Case FIR No. 38/2026 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act registered.
PS Aishmuqam: Acting on reliable information, a search warrant was obtained and executed at the residence of Salman Saleem Rather S/O Mohd Saleem Rather R/O Diyaroo. In presence of an Executive Magistrate, 2.590 kgs of crushed charas-like substance (Bhang Bhoosa) was recovered. Case FIR No. 25/2026 registered.
PS Mattan: During naka checking at Bumzoo KP Road near Foot Bridge Nambal, one suspect was apprehended while attempting to flee. Search of his bag led to recovery of 3 kgs of grinded cannabis leaves, flowers and seeds. Accused identified as Aaqib Ahmad Shah S/O Gh Hassan Shah R/O Shaksaz Mohalla Seer Hamdan Mattan. Case FIR No. 39/2026 registered.
PS Bijbehara: On specific input, a search warrant was obtained and executed at the residence of Irfan Gani Kandroo S/O Abdul Gani Kandroo R/O Adder Bijbehara. During search, 5.03 kgs of charas powder-like substance was recovered from his residential house. Accused arrested on the spot. Case FIR No. 96/2026 registered.
Anantnag Police remains committed to eradicating the menace of drugs from society. These operations reflect the sustained efforts of police teams in curbing narcotics smuggling and ensuring community safety.
