Karnah, Apr 19 (JKNS): The death anniversary of renowned artist and singer Mohammad Maqbool Khan, a prominent figure associated with the Pahari language movement, was observed today at the Pahari Cultural Hall in Tangdhar, Karnah.
A dignified and well-attended function was organized on the occasion, with participation from individuals associated with literature and culture.
The President of the Bar Association Karnah, Qazi Mehboob Elahi, attended the event as the Chief Guest, while noted intellectual and President of the Karnah Cultural Club, Abdul Rasheed Qureshi, was present as the Guest of Honour. The proceedings of the program were conducted by Javed Qureshi.
Speakers at the event paid rich tributes to Mohammad Maqbool Khan, describing him as a multifaceted personality who dedicated his life to the promotion of the Pahari language, culture, and identity. They highlighted his significant contributions as a singer and artist, noting that he played a key role in giving recognition and prominence to the Pahari language.
During the era of radio, Mohammad Maqbool Khan not only performed songs but also presented his own compositions. He was also skilled in playing the banjo and earned a special place in the hearts of the people through his artistic excellence.
A poetry session (Mushaira) was also organized during the program in memory of the late artist, where poets and writers presented their work and paid heartfelt tributes.
Speakers further remarked that his popular songs, including “Kangi Diyan Zulfan,” “Bulbul Sonia,” and “Tode Pichha Main Rafli Hoyan,” remain widely admired among the public and reflect his artistic brilliance.
The event concluded with a collective resolve to carry forward the mission of Mohammad Maqbool Khan and to continue efforts for the promotion and preservation of Pahari language and literature.(JKNS)
