Budgam, Apr 28 (JKNS): In a significant step towards building a drug-free society, a Drug-Free Pledge programme was organized at Mazhar-ul-Haq High School, Beerwah, under the directions of the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor.

The programme was led by Mirwaiz Central Kashmir Syed Abul Lateef Bukhari, along with Social Activist and Youth Leader Muzamil Mehmood. Students, civil society members, and local residents actively participated in the initiative.

Addressing the gathering, Mirwaiz Central Kashmir Syed Abul Lateef Bukhari stated that children are the future of the nation and protecting them from harmful substances like drugs is a collective responsibility.

He emphasized that while Almighty Allah has blessed humans with a healthy body, drug abuse severely damages both physical and mental health.

The speakers highlighted that the growing menace of drug abuse poses a serious threat to society and stressed the urgent need for civil society and youth to actively participate in anti-drug campaigns.

Mirwaiz Bukhari appreciated the efforts of the Nasha Mukt Abhiyan launched under the leadership of Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and commended SSP Budgam and other concerned authorities for their strong action against drug-related activities in the district.

He also thanked Social Activist and Youth Leader Muzamil Mehmood for his commendable role in organizing anti-drug awareness programmes and contributing to social welfare initiatives across the Kashmir Valley.

Students present at the event expressed their commitment to staying away from drugs and pledged to spread awareness among their peers.

The programme concluded with a strong pledge by all participants to work collectively towards a drug-free and healthy society. (JKNS)
