Budgam, May 5 (JKNS): National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah on Tuesday reacted to the election results in four states and one Union Territory, saying that the people’s decision is final and must be respected.

Speaking to media persons in Budgam, as per news agency JKNS, Abdullah said, “The decision that people have made is right in front of you, what can I do about it. New governments have come in; may Allah make them do good for the people.”

He added that the country belongs to all its citizens and stressed the need for inclusive development. “This nation belongs to all of us, take care of that and ensure that everyone progresses,” he said.

The Assembly election results across West Bengal, Assam, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and the Union Territory of Puducherry have thrown up a mixed political landscape, with the BJP emerging strongly in West Bengal and Assam, while regional and opposition parties have secured victories in other regions, reflecting diverse electoral choices of the voters.

Congless led United democratic front delivered victory in Kerala and Actor-politician Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam won in Tamil Nadu. (JKNS)
