Anantnag, May 20 (JKNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Wednesday officially renamed Hapatnar High School in Anantnag district as Shaheed Adil Hussain Memorial High School in honour of Adil Hussain, who was martyred during the deadly Pahalgam terror attack.
Speaking during the renaming ceremony, Minister Sakeena Itoo said Adil’s sacrifice would always be remembered by the people of Jammu and Kashmir and the entire country.
“Everyone remembers martyr Adil Sahib. Along with Jammu and Kashmir, he has left his mark across the country. No one can ever forget the sacrifice he made,” Sakeena Itoo said, as per news agency JKNS.
She said the martyr had risked his own life to save innocent people during the attack and his courage would continue to inspire generations.
The minister recalled that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah had promised the family that the school would be renamed after the martyr, adding that the government fulfilled the promise within a year.
“When children study in this school, they will always remember Adil Sahib and his sacrifice,” she said.
Adil Hussain was among the 26 persons who lost their lives in the deadly Pahalgam terror attack, one of the deadliest incidents in recent years in Jammu and Kashmir. He was widely hailed for his bravery after reports emerged that he attempted to save civilians during the attack before attaining martyrdom.
The renaming ceremony was attended by local leaders, officials, family members of the martyr and residents of the area, who paid tributes to Adil Hussain and remembered his sacrifice with emotion and pride. (JKNS)
