Budgam, Jun 10 (JKNS): Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of SDRF and Civil Defence Kashmir, Imtiyaz Hussain Mir, on Wednesday urged students to embrace technology, research, innovation and discipline to succeed in an increasingly competitive and rapidly evolving world, stating that continuous learning and adaptability are essential in the era of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and advanced computing.

He was addressing a motivational and career-guidance programme organised at the Tabeer-e-Khawab Library and Study Centre in Magam, Budgam, where he attended as the chief guest and interacted with students.

Addressing the gathering, as per news agency JKNS, DIG Mir shared valuable insights on career planning, personal development and the challenges posed by emerging technologies. He emphasized the importance of education, research, discipline and adaptability in preparing young people for future opportunities.

He urged students to stay updated with technological advancements, acquire new skills and cultivate a habit of lifelong learning. According to him, understanding the demands of a changing world will not only help students achieve personal success but also enable them to contribute meaningfully to society and nation-building.

Highlighting the importance of research and knowledge, DIG Mir encouraged students to develop reading habits, critical thinking and intellectual curiosity. He said discipline, hard work, consistency and unwavering dedication remain the cornerstones of success in every field.

The DIG also cautioned students against excessive use of social media and other distractions of the digital age that often divert attention from education and career goals. He advised them to utilize their time productively and remain committed to their ambitions.

“If a student dedicates even one year with sincerity, discipline and complete focus towards a meaningful goal, it can bring about a remarkable transformation in life,” he said.

Speaking to the media, Chairman of Tabeer-e-Khawab Library, Gh Hassan Reshi, said the objective of organising such programmes is to expose students to accomplished personalities whose experiences can inspire and guide them in their educational and professional journeys.

He thanked DIG Imtiyaz Hussain Mir for sharing his valuable experiences and insights with students, adding that such interactions help young people understand the significance of education, discipline, research and perseverance.

Reshi further informed that the library has established forty study cabins for deserving and middle-class students, providing them with a peaceful and conducive environment for academic growth and preparation.

He expressed hope that more distinguished officers, professionals and achievers would visit the institution in future to mentor and motivate students.

Students who attended the programme described it as highly informative and inspiring. One of the participants said interacting with an experienced officer like DIG Mir broadened their perspective and encouraged them to work harder towards their goals.

The student said the session offered valuable insights into Artificial Intelligence, emerging technologies, contemporary challenges and the importance of staying focused despite numerous distractions in today’s world.

On the occasion, felicitation certificates were distributed among students in recognition of their academic performance, dedication and commitment to learning.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, while participants and organisers reaffirmed their commitment to continuing such educational, mentoring and motivational initiatives for the benefit of students and the wider community. They expressed hope that similar programmes would continue in future to help young people move in a positive direction and build a brighter future. (JKNS)
