Shopian, Jun 10 (JKNS): The Department of Horticulture Planning and Marketing, Shopian, has issued a fresh reminder prohibiting undercover or hidden auctioning of horticultural and agricultural produce within the premises of the Mega Fruit and Vegetable Market Aglar, Shopian.

According to Circular No. 25-AMO/SPN of 2026 dated June 10, 2026, issued by the Area Marketing Officer and Member Secretary, as per news agency JKNS, Market Administrative Committee, Shopian, all traders, commission agents, buyers and other stakeholders have been directed to strictly adhere to open auction procedures in a fair, transparent and accountable manner.

The circular states that the directions are being reiterated in continuation of an earlier order issued on December 8, 2025, and warns that hidden or undercover auctioning within the market premises is strictly prohibited.

The department said that all transactions involving horticultural and agricultural produce must be conducted through the established open auction mechanism as mandated under the rules governing Fruit and Vegetable Markets across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

The authorities have warned that any individual found conducting, facilitating or participating in hidden auctioning will face strict action, including immediate cancellation of licence on the spot and imposition of penalties as per the provisions governing fruit mandis in Jammu and Kashmir.

The circular further cautions all stakeholders to comply with the instructions in letter and spirit, stating that no violation of the prescribed auction procedures will be tolerated.

Officials said the move is aimed at ensuring transparency, accountability and fair price discovery for growers and other stakeholders associated with the fruit trade in the region. (JKNS)
