Kulgam, July 9 (JKNS): As part of the flagship “My Youth My Pride” initiative of the Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council, a Kabaddi tournament was successfully organised today at Akhran Nawpora, Kulgam, with the objective of promoting sports, encouraging youth participation, and nurturing sporting talent at the grassroots level.
The event was organised under the dynamic guidance of Ms. Nuzhat Gul, Secretary, Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council, whose visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to sports development continue to inspire young athletes across the Union Territory. Through the My Youth My Pride initiative, she has created meaningful opportunities for youth to participate in sports and showcase their talent at the grassroots level.
The tournament witnessed enthusiastic participation from 200 athletes representing 14 teams. A large gathering of spectators added to the excitement of the event, making it a grand success.
The event was supervised by Mr. Bashir Ahmed, Anantnag/Kulgam Incharge; Mr. Mohd. Shafi Dar, Manager, Nilandrusu Indoor Stadium, Bijbehara; Ms. Rubiya, Senior Netball Coach; Ms. Bilkees Jan, Kabaddi Mentor, Khelo India Centre, Playfield Devsar, Kulgam; Ms. Rabia Hameed, Badminton Mentor; and Mr. Tajammul, Karate Mentor.
The tournament concluded successfully, fostering teamwork, discipline, sportsmanship, and healthy competition among the participants. The event received widespread appreciation from athletes, spectators, and the local community for its excellent organisation and its significant contribution towards strengthening grassroots sports under the My Youth My Pride programme.
