Kupwara, July 19 (JKNS): In view of the forecast of heavy rainfall and inclement weather across Jammu and Kashmir, the Deputy Commissioner Kupwara has issued a weather advisory urging residents, tourists and transporters to remain cautious and avoid vulnerable areas until conditions improve.
According to the advisory issued by the Deputy Commissioner, Kupwara as per news agency JKNS, the Meteorological Centre, Srinagar has predicted adverse weather conditions from July 19 to July 23, 2026, with the possibility of heavy rainfall, flash floods and landslides in various parts of the district.
The administration has particularly advised people residing in Keran, Karnah, Machil, Budnamal, Jumugund, Nowgam and Kumkadi, besides those living along the periphery of rivers, nallahs and hilly regions prone to landslides, avalanches and flash floods, to refrain from venturing into vulnerable areas during the forecast period.
The advisory also urged tourists, travellers and transporters to verify road conditions before undertaking any journey towards the hilly areas of the district.
To facilitate emergency assistance, the district administration has activated the District Emergency Operation Centre (DEOC) and advised the public to contact emergency control rooms in case of any weather-related incident or assistance.
