Srinagar, Aug 3 (JKNS): The Tehsil Administration Trehgam in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district has issued a public advisory urging residents to remain vigilant in view of the prevailing adverse weather conditions and forecast of continued heavy rainfall.
According to a public notice issued by the Tehsildar Trehgam, a copy of which lies with news agency JKNS, the advisory has been issued following directions from the Deputy Commissioner Kupwara amid the possibility of flash floods, landslides and a sudden rise in the water level of rivers and nallahs.
The administration has advised people to avoid venturing near rivers, streams, nallahs and other water bodies, refrain from crossing inundated bridges, culverts or causeways, and ensure that children and livestock remain away from such vulnerable locations.
The advisory also urges residents to avoid non-essential travel during periods of intense rainfall and immediately report any emergency, damage or suspicious situation to the Tehsil Emergency Response Team.
The administration has appealed to the public to remain calm, refrain from spreading rumours or misinformation, and strictly follow advisories and instructions issued by the District and Tehsil Administration from time to time.
It further stated that the Tehsil Emergency Response Team has been placed on 24×7 operational readiness to deal with any weather-related exigency, while calling upon residents to extend full cooperation to the administration, emergency responders and other field agencies to ensure timely response and public safety.
