SDM Karnah Conducts Spot Inspection of Kursi–Chota Road, Directs Expediting of Restoration Work

Karnah, Aug 8 (JKNS): As part of the administration’s ongoing efforts to improve public connectivity and restore roads in Sub-Division Karnah, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Karnah Riyaz Ahmad today conducted a spot inspection of the Kursi–Chota Road and directed the concerned department and executing agency to remove the bottlenecks on priority and restore smooth vehicular movement.

The inspection was conducted in the backdrop of issues raised by a delegation from the Dildar-B area regarding the restoration of complete connectivity on the road. Officers from PWD (R&B), representatives of the concerned executing agency and the contractor were present during the inspection.

The delegation had drawn the administration’s attention to two specific locations where necessary clearance and debris removal work was yet to be completed, causing inconvenience to the general public.

During the inspection, the officials assessed the present condition of the road, the progress of restoration work and the locations where obstructions were affecting smooth and continuous traffic movement. The SDM held detailed discussions with the concerned officers and representatives of the executing agency at the site and reviewed the measures required to make the road fully motorable.

Following the inspection, it was decided that the required clearance work at both identified locations would be undertaken on priority so that the existing obstructions could be removed and public movement restored. The concerned executing agency and contractor were directed to expedite the work and complete the restoration process within the stipulated timeframe.

Speaking to the media, SDM Karnah said that restoration of public connectivity roads remains among the administration’s priorities and that any obstruction causing inconvenience to the public would not be allowed to persist unnecessarily. He further directed the concerned agency to ensure strict adherence to prescribed technical and quality standards during the restoration work.

The road is presently under construction and restoration under the Permanent Restoration component, with an approved cost of approximately ₹25 lakh. Officials said that restoration of the road would provide improved connectivity to the people of the area and facilitate daily commuting, local transportation and other essential activities.

The local delegation expressed satisfaction over the administration’s prompt intervention and the directions issued for immediate necessary action. The delegation expressed hope that the concerned department and contractor would complete the work expeditiously in accordance with the directions and restore full connectivity on the road.

The SDM also directed the concerned authorities to continuously monitor the progress of the restoration work and ensure that it is completed not only within the stipulated time but also in a durable and quality manner, so that the people do not face similar difficulties again in the future. (JKNS)
