Karnah, Aug 22 (JKNS): Newlight Public Model School, Chitrakote, Karnah, organised a grand “Festival of Culture and Values” today, providing students with an opportunity to showcase the region’s rich cultural heritage, traditions, languages and values.
The students presented a colourful array of cultural performances and activities, earning appreciation from the guests and audience.
The event was presided over by Qazi Hameed-ud-Din Qureshi, a renowned educationist and Qazi of Karnah. Zonal Education Officer Chhamkot Abdul Majeed Lone attended the programme as the chief guest, while former Physical Education Officer Raja Nazir Ahmad Khan and former Chief Editor and Cultural Officer of the Cultural Academy of Art and Languages, Mir Ayub Naeem, were the guests of honour.
The programme commenced with the National Anthem, followed by the recitation of the Holy Quran. Students subsequently presented a variety of cultural performances in Pahari, Kashmiri and Gojri languages, reflecting the linguistic and cultural diversity of the Karnah region.
The students also presented different aspects of the Seerat-e-Tayyaba of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, highlighting important lessons from his life and character. Their presentations were warmly appreciated by the gathering.
One of the major attractions of the event was the display of traditional and indigenous food stalls prepared by the students.
The children brought traditional dishes prepared at their homes and presented them in professionally arranged stalls. Guests visited the stalls, tasted the traditional delicacies prepared by the students and appreciated their efforts to preserve and promote local culinary traditions.
Students also displayed a range of educational and scientific models prepared as part of the exhibition. The guests took keen interest in the exhibits and praised the students for their creativity, innovation and hard work.
During the programme, employees who had demonstrated outstanding performance in the Education Department and other fields, participating students, and students who secured top positions in examinations during the past two years were honoured with awards and certificates.
A large number of parents also attended the event and encouraged the students.
Addressing the gathering, the speakers congratulated the management of Newlight Public Model School for organising the unique programme and for providing students with a platform to explore culture, values, education and creativity.
They emphasised that such initiatives play an important role in connecting the younger generation with their cultural identity, traditions and heritage.
The speakers further observed that, alongside modern education, it is equally important to familiarise children with their cultural roots and traditional values. They appreciated the school’s efforts to combine education with cultural learning and extracurricular activities.
The festival served not only as a platform to showcase the talents of the students but also as a meaningful effort to highlight Karnah’s traditional cuisine, languages, culture and values and pass the region’s rich heritage on to the younger generation. (JKNS)
